On October 7, 2021, I made the difficult decision to quit my first job due to toxic treatment and discrimination. Despite enjoying the work, I couldn't tolerate the mistreatment. Grateful for Allah blessing me with a loving and understanding family, I shared my struggles with them, deciding that enough was enough. That day, before noon, with my mother, I submitted my resignation, uncertain if I should be proud or regretful.
Looking back, I question if I'm proud or regretful, acknowledging the complexity of decisions. In January 2022, seeking change, I applied for a job in Johor Bahru, aiming to contribute to my family and step out of my comfort zone. Before leaving, I celebrated my 22nd birthday with cherished friends and family, making lasting memories in Sandakan.
My friends played a crucial role in making my 22nd birthday truly memorable. Florencie Ansalmus drove to my home, presenting me with a thoughtful gift – a set of McDonald's meals. Additionally, Dg. Sufiani binti Awang Janis baked a delightful cake and gifted me a birthday balloon. Their gestures added warmth to the celebration, making it a cherished moment in my journey.
Fast forward to February 9, 2022, as I left for Johor, surrounded by family and friends bidding farewell. Despite their tears, I felt nervous yet determined for the next steps. Departing from my hometown, I focused on survival and the practicalities of my journey. My friends, Shaherra Sudin, Dg., and Norazlina binti Akup, caught up with me before departure, emotional but supportive. While they felt nostalgic, I was more focused on the practicalities of my journey, anticipating life in Kuala Lumpur and my flight to Johor the next morning. My father couldn't make it to the airport, but I knew he wished me well from afar.
Deciding to create my own life was tough, but I'm grateful for the experiences that shaped me. I've learned to rely on my choices, breaking free from being a puppet controlled by others.Leaving home for independence is a challenging choice that took months of contemplation, seeking support from loved ones. If you're navigating a tough decision, remember to include it in your prayers. Trust in the process, and never underestimate the power of prayer.
